The Island of Cres – for lovers of nature and culture

Cres is the second largest island of Croatia, and yet a hidden gem of untouched nature and wild beauty. It is said that more sheep than humans populate this island, and this doesn’t seem to be far from the truth.

The visit starts in the old town of Cres, where guest will get the chance to meet a wool manufacturer and learn themselves some of the traditional felt techniques still practiced on the island. Next stop is the scenic old village of Beli, one of the last places in the Mediteranean where the impressive griffon vulture can still be found.

We visit the vulture sanctuary and learn about this fascinating species, one of the three largest birds in the world. Lunch at a typical local konoba and a light hike through the shady woods around Beli complete this day out on Cres.
